What is an IP address?Internet Protocol (IP) refers to the method by which data is sent from one computer to another on the Internet. An IP address is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses Internet Protocol for communication. It can be likened to a telephone number in that it is used to uniquely identify an entity; no two devices can have the same IP address.
Bitkoin Africa's IP Whitelisting feature allows you control the number of IP addresses that are allowed to access your account. Once enabled, you’ll receive an email asking you to approve a new IP address anytime our systems detect a log in attempt from an unrecognised source.
IP Whitelisting is optional and is disabled by default for all Bitkoin Africa accounts. If you’d like to enable IP Whitelisting for your account, follow these steps:
To do this, click on the 'Accounts' menu on the navigation bar, then select ‘Security & Settings’ from the drop-down menu. From the Settings page, scroll to the IP Whitelisting section and click 'Enable IP Whitelisting'.
Step 1: Go to the Settings page
Step 2: That's all!You have enabled IP Whitelisting and all login attempts from an unrecognised IP address will have to be approved by you.
A login attempt from an unrecognised IP address will prompt an email that looks like this:
You can also revoke login access for an IP address. To do that, click on the red garbage can icon that appears on the row containing the IP address you wish to delete.
